Aquamarine and Blue Sapphire Alabastra Earrings
Combining Greek and Roman art and Art Deco craftsmanship with a unique aesthetic, the Prounis earrings are made of 22k recycled gold with ancient goldsmith techniques.
The ancient perfume vessel known as the alabastron was originally made from alabaster, the material from which it takes its name, and later evolved into patterned glass imitating lapis lazuli and marble. These slender, drop-shaped vessels held scented oils such as cedarwood, rose, amber, and myrrh, selected for qualities ranging from calming to sensual. Echoing these ancient forms, gold-capped aquamarine alabastra hang from gold ovals set at the center with cabochon-cut sapphires.
Like vessels filled with perfume, the earrings release an airy sense of translucent blue as they sway. The differing depths of sapphire and aquamarine create dimensional color, bringing refined brightness even to a simple outfit.
